"Bush Allies" profiting off no-bid contracts from Katrina

CNNMoney released a story titled Bush Allies getting Katrina work. This is possibly one of the most misleading headlines out about Katrina disaster. It's main focus was Halliburton, of course, but ironically the article mentions The Shaw Group. You will read the following biography that is printed about its Founder and CEO, J. M. Bernhard, Jr.

J. M. Bernhard, Jr. is the Founder, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of The Shaw Group Inc., a Fortune 500 company offering a broad range of services to the power, process, environmental, infrastructure and emergency response markets. The Company’s stock is publicly traded on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol “SGR.” Under Mr. Bernhard’s leadership, The Shaw Group has grown dramatically and through a series of strategic acquisitions to over $3 billion in revenues since its inception in 1987. Shaw is one of the youngest companies to be named to the Fortune 500 and recently debuted on the magazine’s list of “America’s Most Admired Companies”. Headquartered in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, the Company employs over 18,000 people at its offices and operations in North America, South America, Europe, the Middle East and the Asia-Pacific region.

You may think this is one of Bush's buddies,... WRONG! But I extracted this biography from the Louisiana Democratic Party web site. He is the Chairman of the Louisiana Democratic Party. That's right, the Chairman. So why is a company like the Shaw Group get looped into article about "Bushes Allies"? He is not a "Bush Ally." The lobbyist link is very weak and not valid for making a Bush connection, especially with this latest revelation. The biography talks about his relationship with Louisiana Governor Democrat Kathleen Blanco.

Mr. Bernhard was recently selected as Chairman of the Louisiana Democratic Party. He co-chaired the transition team for the governor of Louisiana, Governor Kathleen Babineaux Blanco.

For all of you who think that media bias is just Fox News, Rush Limbaugh and conservative bloggers, forget it. With the lies about the about the number of death tolls, rapes, murders and all in out craziness, being so way off, I don't understand your thought process. Those stories that have broke the shoddy reporting in the last 24 hours have been from those "right-wing publications" like the LA Times. Media bias is still a liberal problem and not a conservative one. Shut up about Halliburton already! At least this time this should make clear sense to you.

Hurricane Katrina Media Inaccuracy

The truth is always making it's way out now. During Hurricane Katrina we heard details about the "horrors" of the Superdome and the absolute upheaval that was left in New Orleans. Now we are finding out that a number of these accusations are turning out to be very false and inaccurate. It looks like the media really screwed up more than anyone.

From Rush Limbaugh's web site

Under the simple heading of "What a Difference Competent Leadership Makes"

Bill O'Reilly clobbers Phil Donahue

Bill O'Reilly tears Phil Donahue a new one on his support for Iraq war. Sparks really fly when Donahue asked if Bill would send his children to Iraq. I wish more "war protestors" were put under this scrutiny. Go here to check out the video.

Air America Pledge Drive

Michelle Malkin and Radio Equalizer just got a hold of something that I was aware of before the Air America scandal this recent post. Here is the latest in what it mean to be an Air America Associate. This has all the entertainment of a NPR/PBS telethon.

There is no minimum amount required to become an Air America Associate. We are grateful for any gift no matter what the size.

$50 Get three I'm Building Air America Radio bumper stickers.

$100 Get three I'm Building Air America Radio bumper stickers, plus the stylish tote

$250 Get three I'm Building Air America Radio bumper stickers, the stylish AAR tote plus personal thanks on AirAmericaRadio.com

In return for your help:
We'll send you a monthly Associates insider email with the backstage news from our shows and our headquarters.

When we take Air America Radio on the road, we'll invite you to meet our hosts and progressive leaders in your community.

And for gifts of $50 and up, we've got FREE STUFF to send you.

What! $50 for 3 bumper stickers? I think I am beginning to see why liberals don't make good capitalists. AA is resorting the liberal tactic of begging for money instead of earning it by creating it through a desired product. I think I should donate under the name "Gloria Wise" so it can be posted on their web site. But I would be giving money to a business that would make me ill. I wish I could get a bumper sticker that says "if you can't beat conservative talk radio, steal" or "funding provided by cash earmarked for charity". Here is how honesty would really affect their marketing campaign for AA's troubles and scandal. The italics are my additions.

There is no minimum amount required to become an Air America Associate. You can donate as an individual, corporation or even as charity or money taken illegally from a charity. We are grateful for any gift no matter what the size. But if you could swing a couple million that would really help us out,... well,... for a few weeks at least.

$50 Get three I'm Building Air America Radio bumper stickers. Franken has been freaking out about his parking spot again. We had to deal with him being an "involuntary investor" at one time and now we don't hear the end of it.

$100 Get three I'm Building Air America Radio bumper stickers, plus the stylish tote. Stylish isn't really the right word but you might be all the rage latest protest rally.

$250 Get three I'm Building Air America Radio bumper stickers, the stylish AAR tote plus personal thanks on AirAmericaRadio.com. The thanks is on our web site. We would like to thank our latest sponsor which seems to be a "Gloria Wise" from Bronx, NY she has donated $250,... 3,400 times.

In return for your help:
We'll send you a monthly Associates insider email with the backstage news from our
shows and our headquarters. This newsletter will contain information on what other non-profits we can target on stealing from, how to pretend that you don't know what the illegal monies were used for, protestor of the month and,.. oh yes, We hate GEORGE W. BUSH articles!

When we take Air America Radio on the road, we'll invite you to meet our hosts and progressive leaders in your community. Just imagine you can hang out with people Rachel Maddow, Mike Malloy and Randi Rhodes. These progressive leaders include Cindy "even my family disagrees with me" Sheehan, Michael "propagandist" Moore, Louis "I hate white people" Farrakhan and or anyone who hasn't bathed in a more than a week.

And for gifts of $50 and up, we've got FREE STUFF to send you. I guess we don't really have a good cover up for this one, yes, spend $50 or more and you get FREE STUFF. But if you are a true liberal you will bite on this garbage anyway. This is what it means when Lenin used the term "useful idiots".

Al Franken, a lying liar?

The blogs of the Radio Equalizer and Michelle Malkin have just obtained psychical proof that Al Franken has been caught in a huge lies about his involvement with the Gloria Wise Boys & Girls Club scandal.

The blogs postings go into detail about it but basically it is this: On August 8, 2005 Al Franken stated on his radio show that he knew nothing of the scandal until about a week ago (meaning late July/early August). A document was obtained that Al Franken had signed off on a settlement agreement in front of a notary republic. This included the debts of the $875,000 loan taken illegally from Gloria Wise Boys & Girls Club. This was back on November 22, 2004. I tried to assume that Franken was directly involved with the embezzlement but now I have strong suspicions of Franken. Obviously, this needs to be addressed by Franken.

The title of Franken's new book, ironically it is called The Truth. I think that is what we would all like to know.

Rated R: Republicans in Hollywood

If I were to tell you that a man who worked on Bill Clinton's Presidential campaign as a speechwriter, made a documentary that talked about the left's intolerance in Hollywood for Republicans. And then I said he did a great job,... you would either be shocked or think I am lying. But it is the truth, so be shock and awed.

Back this spring I saw a great documentary on AMC called Rated R: Republicans in Hollywood. The man who made this documentary, Jesse Moss, was a former speechwriter for Bill Clinton and beautifully painted a piece on how the so-called "tolerant" Hollywood are intolerant of people with opposing view points.

Great interviews were done with Drew Carey (although I think he classifies himself as a libertarian from what he said in the movie), Pat Sajak, Patricia Heaton and Vincent Gallo from the celeb angle. Other Republican pundits also put in their two cents with insight. My favorite line was from Patricia Heaton from Everybody Loves Raymond fame. This come after she announced her and her husbands admiration for President George W. Bush.

"Literally, you would have thought I had crapped in the middle of the
table!"

I can relate to an experience like this as a person who is prevalent in a society with liberals crawling around. It has been a while since it played and I don't know if it will be played anytime soon. But I do have to commend one liberal Democrat for creating such a great piece of work, so unbiased and fair.

Election 2008: Needs more cowbell?

Recent rumors came out in the last few days that actor Christopher Walken was going to try to take a stab at the presidency. The verdict is out on whether or not the rumors are for real or not. The daily cartoon Day by Day by Chris Muir put a funny spin on Walken's potential campaign.

Norm McDonald: true conservative?

I was just watching Norm McDonald on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and he always has that wry sense of humor that I like. I think I have read on a few web sites that he might be rumored to be conservative or lean that direction. Which is surprising not just being from Hollywood but also that he is Canadian from Quebec too. Tonight he was in good form.

He was filming "Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo" which I am not excited to see but they filmed it in Amsterdam. He had some funny and insightful things to say about it. I will have to paraphrase most of this because I don't have a transcript. He had to grow a big black beard for the part and, to his own admission, he looked like he fit the profile of a terrorist. He had funny things to say about racial profiling and airport security. His intent was comedic but I think anyone that makes fun of these issues isn't a lefty.
  1. His father fought in WWII and liberated Amsterdam. If he went back today he would be spinning in his grave.
  2. At one point he got stopped by a cop in Amsterdam for jaywalking and he talked about how the guy should have been thankful that his dad bailed him out so his country of "drugged whores" could arrest people for jaywalking.
  3. He talked about his appearing to look like a terrorist and he got stopped in by airport security. He saw a guy with a big turban on and he walked straight through security. He asked why they shouldn't take a look at that guy's turban "just to see if it is ticking"

Now I am not here to talk about the accuracy of his statements but more for examining the content of them. It is great to see actor's who doesn't tow the line of political correctness. If it is true, welcome to the "dark side" Norm.

Liberal means conservative?

I was looking into the definition of "liberalism" and this is what I found at Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary:

2 a often capitalized : a movement in modern Protestantism emphasizing intellectual liberty and the spiritual and ethical content of Christianity b : a theory in economics emphasizing individual freedom from restraint and usually based on free competition, the self-regulating market, and the gold standard

Now there are a few versions under this definition that include that would come close to the description of liberals today. But definitions 2 a & b seemed to be what a liberal is NOT. Ideals that contrast with this definition are: separation of church and state, abortion, tax hikes, free markets, gay marriage and implementation of social programs, just to name a few.

I looked into this a more today and was doing research on Wikipedia. I found an article by Jonah Goldberg of the National Review where he talks about today's conservatives having classical liberal/libertarian values. He wrote the article back at the end of 2001 in response to a libertarians who wrote for Reason magazine. He stated the following:

"Which is a shame because, as I pointed out in my column last Wednesday, Hayek argued that United States was the one place in the world where you could call yourself a "conservative" and be a lover of liberty — because we want to defend those institutions which preserve it. And that's why — despite a lot of propaganda from the folks at Reason — most conservatives are closer to classical liberals than a lot of Reason-libertarians."

One of the women I think that comes closest to "classical liberalism" is Tammy Bruce. A former president of the Los Angeles chapter of National Organization of Women (NOW) she wrote a great book a few years ago on what is wrong with liberals today. I read her book The New Thought Police and it is one of the best works that define what is wrong with the liberal movement today. I would recommend it for liberals and conservative. I don't expect it to change your political philosophy but it will point out a lot of flaws with today's liberalism.

I think this quote by the President Ronald Reagan puts it best:

[T]he very heart and soul of conservatism is libertarianism. I think conservatism is really a misnomer just as liberalism is a misnomer for the liberals—if we were back in the days of the Revolution, so-called conservatives today would be the Liberals and the liberals would be the Tories. The basis of conservatism is a desire for less government interference or less centralized authority or more individual freedom and this is a pretty general description also of what libertarianism is."

Leave it to the Gipper to explain it clearly. I took a few glances at the history/definition of conservatism and found some interesting things as well. I hope to have another post on this after doing research. Stay tuned,...

Super Shrink Me?

Morgan Spurlock came out with a documentary last year called Super Size Me. This was a documentary that he made when he went on a strict McDonald's fast food diet for 30 days. Because he chose the worst thing on the menu he gained over 30 pounds and had a series of impending health problems. He also did an expose on how McDonald's was making this terrible food for everyone and that this was hurting people. People were not to blame but the food industry was truly the culprit. In reality, it is not what corporations/food industry serve you but the CHOICES you make.

A woman out in North Carolina has tried refute what Morgan Spurlock was trying to say. She ate just strictly at McDonald's for 90 days and so far has lost 37 pounds by making good choices.

I think this is one of the liberal vs conservative issues that defines how two groups think. Liberals will say "oh no, that is not what we believe" but they praised/loved the documentary when it came out. I have to admit, it is entertaining to watch a man gorge himself for 30 days straight on the worst food possible. It is just another way the liberals try to shift blame and not take any responsibility for themselves.

NARAL got it wrong, very wrong.

It still surprises me, though it shouldn't, that liberals are scrambling to find anything to discredit the nomination of John Roberts for his Supreme Court. The NARAL (National Association for the Repeal of Abortion Laws) ad against John Roberts was not twisting facts but an out right lie. Their claim is that Roberts basically supported abortion clinic bombers in Alabama.

The group at factcheck.org, which has even com against conservative issues, has said point blank "this ad is false," which is language they don't use very often. Roberts should go through without any problems. But it is amazing how desperate this groups are getting.

I Found one!

I found out one of my co-workers at work is a Republican. I knew she got treated differently but now I think I know why that might be. I came out to her by saying that I am "living in the closet". In fact she had to plan a conference because "she was voting for Bush," (this was a joke of course). I really commend her for being out spoken in this environment.

She works in the same location as me but in a different department. It is great to encounter someone who is like minded. I remember when President Reagan died, I was out a with some co-workers to which one of my employees said

(Exact quote)
"He got what he deserved. I hope he rots in hell."

I will say the other libs around there did not endorse this belief. One did say that her statement was little out of line but then she plowed right over it him verbally and they just let her rant. She is no longer with the company, Thank God.

Note: I do have conservative friends so I am not totally alone in the universe. But at work, up until now there wasn't a single person I knew who was.

Wife: Pro flat tax?

My wife and I were discussing the other day what the flax tax was. After I got done explaining to her what it was she gave her opinion on it.

(paraphrased dialogue)
Wife: "Yeah, I would like that method for taxation."

Me: "What?"

Wife: "Why not have something that goes across the board, everyone gets treated the same," she answered."

Me: "You do realize that the 'flat tax' is a Republican ideal and people who are considered wealthy would pay considerably less in taxes than they do now."

Wife: "Well, I would rather have everybody treated the same and make it simple."

Me: "You do realize that you that this makes you closer to becoming a Republican. Come, join the dark side."

Personally, I am more of a National Consumption Tax and get rid of income taxes all together. I found this interaction between us quite amusing. I have to commend her a lot because she does put up with a fair amount of my political rants. Part of the reason I created this forum was to channel my frustrated energy in another direction.

Another classless act by some liberal vandals. Apparently a kids "danced" on Ronald Reagan's grave and urinated on Nixon's grave.

If these pictures prove real, I'm hoping when these kids get busted and they cry like children. I hope the left shows some outrage at this because you can't excuse this behavior, either way. We would be outraged if this was one of our family members, why not a former president? I wonder if this is a federal offense? I can only hope. I don't remember anyone ever going to a Democrat President's grave or a prominent liberal figure of some kind and doing such vile things.

America's Enemy: Osama bin Laden or X-box?

Hillary Clinton made the news a few weeks back about censorship of the video game market. I can understand that parents would be upset over the pornographic contents in the game but let's do a little comparison. What is America's real enemy?

or

From the memory bank

Ran into a cousin of mine a few weeks back. Some relatives know that I am a Republican. She found out that I was a Republican and asked me in that "Are you a child molester?" tone.

"Are you a Republican," she asked?

"Yes," I replied.

Then a mutual family friend says, "my brother is too."

After a few moments of friendly banter back and forth. Later she was leaving to approach another venue, jokingly she says, "He is dead to me." With a hand to face (didn't know that fad was still around).

To which I replied, "Thank you for being so tolerant!" BUSTED.

She just walked away, rolled her eyes and laughed. My wife and mutual family friend thought that was pretty funny too. As I always believe there is a difference between "tolerance" and "acceptance."

I think Mr. Garrision from South Park puts the definition of tolerance best.

"Tolerant, but not stupid! Look, just because you have to tolerate something doesn't mean you have to approve of it! If you had to like it, it'd be called the Museum of Acceptance! 'Tolerate' means you're just putting up with it! You tolerate a crying child sitting next to you on the airplane or, or you tolerate a bad cold. It can still piss you off!"

I commend South Park for getting out material, even on both sides of the issues. I never thought when I saw the show back in 1996 it would be so politically relevant at times.

Assassination Nation

As by the definition of this journal I like to call myself a "closeted Republican," which I consider an expanding wave in conservatism. I have a friend who has no idea that I am a conservative Republican I will call my friend Jesse.

Jesse goes one of his typical rants about Bush and the environment. Something about National Forests and how it is being stripped because of commercial ventures, road building, etc. The next quote really surprises me. Now this is cut and pasted from his journal.

"Once again, I want to kick everyone who voted for him in the balls. Yes, even my mom. I want to kick my mom in the balls for allowing Bush to stay in office and continue this rape of the land."
Yes, this did surprise me quite a bit. The thing is I know there is a difference between what he says and what he means. I doubt very much that his Bush voting Mom would get kicked in the balls (even though I am pretty sure she doesn't have them). I could not believe this when I read it. But it doesn't end right there. This next post from a friend REALLY was disturbing. Again, I am cutting and pasting this directly. This is his friend I will call Kerrie.

"We are long overdue for an assassination in this country. "

What?!?! My god, what has our country come to! I can't believe people nonchalantly wish this for our President. I know I was not a fan of Clinton but I never wished him harm. The disturbing thing is nobody posted "Hey that's out of line" or even condemning part of what she said,... NOTHING. I know people will say this is one person but I know there casual incidents by people who have made jokes about the assassination of President Bush. Examples of these are in Air America Radio and Kill Bush T-Shirts.

I remember my liberal sister at one point laughing when she heard President Bush ('41) had a heart attack and how she wished he would have died. Of course everyone remained concerned when Former President Bill Clinton was going through heart bypass surgery. This was not something to make light of then according to liberals.

Another example of how the left leans toward craziness and why the right appears is more rational.

Welcome Home

After much apprehension the space shuttle landed safely in California today. I don't know what the future holds for NASA and their space shuttle missions but it seems there are still a lot of questions unanswered.

I hate Bush,... or do I?

Looks like this lady is pulling a John Kerry with her recollections of our President. I feel for the loss of her son. I know that can't be easy. But I think right now she is showing two faces. I still can't believe the left will do about faces like this and not even think twice about it. Pulled this from Drudge Report. Obviously this change is an indication of an agenda that someone besides this mother is fueling.

PROTESTING SOLDIER MOM CHANGED STORY ON BUSH
Mon Aug 08 2005
10:11:07 ET

The mother of a fallen U.S. soldier who is holding a roadside peace vigil near President Bush's ranch -- has dramatically changed her account about what happened when she met the commander-in-chief last summer!

Cindy Sheehan, 48, of Vacaville, Calif., who last year praised Bush for bringing her family the "gift of happiness," took to the nation's TV outlets this weekend to declare how Bush "killed an indispensable part of our family and humanity."

CINDY 2004

THE REPORTER of Vacaville, CA published an account of Cindy Sheehan's visit with the president at Fort Lewis near Seattle on June 24, 2004:

"'I now know he's sincere about wanting freedom for the Iraqis,' Cindy said after their meeting. 'I know he's sorry and feels some pain for our loss. And I know he's a man of faith.'

"The meeting didn't last long, but in their time with Bush, Cindy spoke about Casey and asked the president to make her son's sacrifice count for something. They also spoke of their faith.

"The trip had one benefit that none of the Sheehans expected.

"For a moment, life returned to the way it was before Casey died. They laughed, joked and bickered playfully as they briefly toured Seattle.

For the first time in 11 weeks, they felt whole again.

"'That was the gift the president gave us, the gift of happiness, of being together,'
Cindy said."

CINDY 2005

Sheehan's current comments are a striking departure.

She vowed on Sunday to continue her protest until she can personally ask Bush: "Why did you kill my son?"

In an interview on CNN, she claimed Bush "acted like it was party" when she met him last year.

"It was -- you know, there was a lot of things said. We wanted to use the time for him to know that he killed an indispensable part of our family and humanity. And we wanted him to look at the pictures of Casey.

"He wouldn't look at the pictures of Casey. He didn't even know Casey's name. He
came in the room and the very first thing he said is, 'So who are we honoring here?' He didn't even know Casey's name. He didn't want to hear it. He didn't want to hear anything about Casey. He wouldn't even call him 'him' or 'he.' He called him 'your loved one.'

Every time we tried to talk about Casey and how much we missed him, he would change the subject. And he acted like it was a party.

BLITZER: Like a party? I mean...

SHEEHAN: Yes, he came in very jovial, and like we should be happy that he, our son, died for his misguided policies. He didn't even pretend like somebody...

END

On her current media tour, Sheehan has not been asked to explain her twist on Bush; from praise to damnation!

Developing...

You have to pay at the door

Found this interesting story from CNN. Leave it to Democrats to try to pull a fast one with fundraising dollars. The left even tries to steal our beer money.

Dead Air America

The scandal involving Air America Radio and the Gloria Wise Boys and Girls Club is brewing and the media isn't really talking about this story. There is something hidden deep within the organization, nobody has come out to defend this radio station, at least from what I have seen. It looks like the alleged money taken from GWBGC is not going to be repaid either from what I saw in AAR statement.

The Radio Equalizer is going nuts with information on this subject. I can honestly say that I have listened to AAR several dozen times. I know from what I have experienced I can understand why they have trouble.
  1. They don't represent the straight facts on their shows and if they do call things facts, they are warped and rearranged.
  2. I don't think I have ever heard anyone call in with an opposing view point. They may be there but I have not heard them.
  3. Some of their sponsors are workers unions! If this doesn't look desparate, I don't know what does.
  4. I can honestly say that I don't recall ever being entertained by anyone on the show. Rush, Savage, Medved, Hewitt, Liddy have a least this quality.
  5. Even in the liberal cities, New York, Philadelphia, Chicago, Franken doesn't even come close to defeating or matching Limbaugh.
  6. It's a liberal radio station,... why would it work in the first place.

I am keeping a close watch on this and would not be surprised if this brings the radio network down.

My Outlet

I am hoping my posting techniques are turning out better this time. Here goes as I explode from the cave of conservatism.

I work with liberal organizations and have pretty much all of my adult life. I guess one thing I have started to do is be in the closet with my conservative/republican beliefs. Not knowing how to deal tactfully with co-workers, mutual friends or acquaintances in my life that on the left, I have created this blog. I hope to report back in a Jane Goodall way to talk about behavior habits of the liberal.

But seriously, I do have many people in my social and employment circle who are liberal Democrats. As people, I care about a lot of them and think they are wonderful human beings. Knowing that a lot of liberals that claim to be "tolerant," don't practice that with people of opposing view points. I have had people scream at me, throw things, treat me differently and even have defensive posturing like they wanted to take a swing at me when I have debate politics. So that is why I tend to "live in the closet". I hope that this blog is an outlet for myself and for other fellow conservatives who feel my pain.

My commitment is to expose how the left really encourages hypocritical, chaotic, self-absorbed, behavior. I hope you enjoy and visit often. Long live the Closet Republican!

Aw nuts!

I tried to post more on this blog but the spell check screwed me over. I clicked spell check and it erase all of my post. I spent over an hour on it. Alas, maybe another day. But then I discovered of the "Recover post" option when it was all too late.

Starting off

I decided to start this blog as a way to discuss my political belief and not live "in the closet". More information will come but this is my starting point. I will fill everyone in on my situation later.
